Internet Services Will Be Unavailable in These Areas

The Balochistan government just decided to pull the plug on internet across the province for Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Yeah, you heard right. They dropped a notice on September 4, basically saying, “No internet for you!” Starting 6 pm on September 5 until 9 pm the next day, say goodbye to your 3G and 4G—those are toast.

Internet Services Will Be Unavailable in These Areas

And it’s not just your mobile data that’s getting axed. PTCL and NTC lines? Also on the chopping block, at least in certain spots. Quetta, Noshki, Khuzdar, Mastung, and Sibi—if you’re in any of those, good luck getting online until the evening of the 6th. Doesn’t matter if you’re using your phone or your WiFi, you’re out of luck either way. Honestly, it’s like someone just hit the province-wide “off” switch.

Honestly, people are pretty fed up with these constant shutdowns. Civil society folks and digital rights nerds have been calling it out nonstop—shutting everything down just screws up classes, messes with businesses, and leaves everyone in the dark. And get this: the Balochistan High Court already told the government to chill out with the blanket bans and bring services back in places where there’s no real threat. Doesn’t seem like rocket science, right?
